Getting to Perisher

Where is Perisher located?

Perisher is located in the Australian Snowy Mountains, within Kosciuszko National Park in New South Wales. It is part of the Mount Kosciuszko, which is mainland Australia’s tallest mountain, at 2,228 metres (7,310 ft) above sea level. The feature makes it the most ideal destination in winter for Ski/board and snow lovers for Ski holidays.

How far is Perisher from Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne?

 Sydney: About 5-6 hours in the winter, 491km from Sydney centre via Remembrance driveway/M31.

Melbourne: About 7 hours drive in winter, 556km from Melbourne centre via M1. 

Canberra: Only around 2.5 hours drive in winter, 221km from Canberra centre via Monaro Hwy and Kosciuszko Road.

Is the best way to get to Perisher/Sponars Chalet by drive?

Yes. It will be easier for your as you may have plenty of luggage/gears and may also have kids to look after. Sponars Chalet has plenty of onsite free parking for our inhouse guests. You will need a national park pass to staying at Kosciuszko National Park overnight and the pass is issued per car. We are the only few Ski Hotels at Perisher that have car park onsite, you will find out how amazing it can be to have your car just parking outside your accomodation.

How do I get to Perisher/Sponars Chalet if I'm not driving?

Shuttle buses are available from Sydney and Canberra. It takes you to the SkiTube Terminal at Bullocks Flat then you can take SkiTube from Bullocks Falt to Perisher Front Valley. Once you get to Perisher, our avo shuttle can pick you up from Perisher back to Sponars Chalet. It is a little bit costy as SkiTube tickets has a per head rate which will be more expensive than National Park Entry Fee per car when you have a whole family or group of friends coming togother. Also, change between transportaions can be too much some time. To save some hussle, hiring a car might be another good option for you.

Perisher Snow & Weather

When does the Perisher snow season start?

Perisher ski resort normally opens from the June Long Weekend through to early October Long weekend each year. For winter 2024, Perisher has annouced the staring date as 8th of June till the 7th of October.

What is the best time to go to Perisher?

 July and August is always the peak snow season at Perisher, June and September is the shoulder time of each snow season but sometimes snow condition can be supurb as well when it is colde enough. Perisher starts their snow gun as soon as they can to make the snow thicker and try to provide snow lovers a better experience. 

Does Perisher have real snow?

Yes! Mount Kosciuszko as the tallest mountain in Australia does have enough fresh snow every winter, and snowmaking machines are also used throughout the season to ensure fresh snow on the ground from June throught to October.

How much snow is there at Perisher now?

To find out how much snow is at Perisher right now, look no further than the Perisher Snow Report. Published daily, the Snow Report provides insight into the current conditions at the resort, lifts expected to open each day, number of groomed runs on offer, road conditions & much more. Perisher App is available for Ski/board lovers via online app stores.

Where can I buy Perisher ski tickets?

Lift Pass can be purchased at Perisher.com.au. We suggest you pre order all of your lift tickets and lessons, especailly private lessons as it runs out quick. There is an option to buy Day pass, multiple pass, Night Pass and Annual Epic Pass.

How much is the Perisher lift pass?

Lift pass price differ month to month. At peak Season (July & August) Perisher daily lift tickets start from $219 for Adults and $120 for Children. Shoulder Snow Season (June, September & October) is less expensive, which starts from $172 for Adults and $95 for Children.  You can also buy the Annual Epic pass which allow unlimited access to all lifts at Perisher. The prices starting from $1,149 for Adults, $899 for Seniors and $659 for Children. It is worth to buy a lift tickets if you plan to visit Perisher more than 5 days during the peak season. You are also eligible for extra discount around Perisher Valley for food, beverage, Skitube Ticket and etc.

How much is the Perisher skiTube and When does it run?

A single day return ticket on the Perisher skitube starts is around $65 for Adults, and $35 for Children, while an overnight return ticket costs $117 for Adults and $64 for Children (Price may vary each year). You can purchase Perisher ski tube tickets online at Perisher’s website or by calling Perisher Guest Services on 1300 655 822. Perisher update their ski tube, lift, lesson and hire packages and pricing each snow season.

The SkiTube run between 05:00am and 01:00am. The first stop is the underground station at Perisher Valley and the train then continues on to Blue Cow through another tunnel through the Perisher Range. If you are an Epic Pass Holder, you can take SkiTube for Free from Perisher Front Valley Terminal to Bluecow Terminal.

What time do lifts open at Perisher?

Perisher lifts open around 8:30am each day, and close before 5:00pm. We also suggust you to check out the perisher lift reports especially on thoes windy days to find out which chairs are open.

How high is Perisher ski resort?

There are seven mountain peaks within Perisher Valley, ranging from Mt. Blue Calf at 1,905m to the summit of Mt Perisher at 2,054m high. Perisher Valley village is 1,720m.

How many runs does Perisher have?

Perisher Ski Resort is the largest Ski Resort in Australia which has a total of 47 lifts across it’s four different resort areas. It is also the largest alpine resort in the Southern Hemisphere with 12.45sq kms of ski terrain. The longest run at Perisher is about 3km long.

Is Night Ski Available at Perisher?

Yes, Perisher Ski Resort offers night skiing every Tuesday and Saturday night from late June to Mid September. On these days, Front Valley will be groomed for night Skier/Snowboarder. Night Ski Start from 6:00pm-9:00pm on the Village Eight Express. Firework shows are on most of the nights depends on the weather. It will be a great memory to watch the Firework when you are on the Chairlift.
